Thankful for paid holiday off
Today I am thankful for many things. I am off from work today and started the day with coffee, waffle, news and PJs. It’s perfect. And it is often during these moments – stressfree moments – when I have the desire to write. I have neglected this blog for way too long. Not sure why, just kinda fell to the wayside. I guess I come back when I feel I need to publicly vocalize my thankfulness for things I’ve been blessed with. Below is a short list of those blessings.
- A wonderful hubby who I love very much, and loves me in return
- A great marriage where we support and respect the other
- Wonderful, loving family
- A loving, sweet, funny puppy
- A full-time job that satisfies me, challenges me, and fits me
- A paid holiday day off given to me from my employer
- A warm, safe house that has become my home
- Coffee!
- Leftover waffles
- The passion for writing – therefore blogging
Happy Homeowners
TGIF! Hubby and I moved into our first house last Sunday and are so excited to be homeowners. I have to admit the day after the move – Monday – hubby went to work and I was left with an overwhelming feeling. We are responsible for this building. That is a scary thought. I like responsibilities – I thrive on them – but this is a responsibility so large that I’ve never experienced. And it’s daunting. Everyone warned us that the closing was going to be stressful. But it was anything but. We enjoyed it. We’ve wanted to buy a house for so long that was just on cloud 9. But a few days later, overwhelming set in. Now, almost a week later, I’m starting to feel a bit more comfortable in this house and the overwhelming feeling is starting to drift away. Yay for homeownership!
Other positive thoughts for today:
- Poping champagne tonight in order to officially celebrate our house purchase
- A great interview earlier in the week
- A teaching gig – and helping non writers learn that writing shouldn’t be difficult or scary
- Sunny days above 30 degrees
- Chirping birds, cardinals on the tree in the backyard
- Millions of stars you can see when you walk out the back door
- A puppy who can’t break out of her cage anymore – hopefully
- Fish Fry tonight!
- Wine tasting with good friends tomorrow
Sun-shiny Thursday
Having a productive week will make anyone in a good mood, and that’s exactly where I’m at today. Each day of this week has been very productive. It’s not often you have three days in a row of productivity – or maybe it’s not often I do lately. But that’s exactly what’s happened. And I’m loving it.
Other good things for today:
- Sun-shiny day!
- Having a great talk with Hubby last night, and having a snuggle date in front of the TV (accompanied by the puppy).
- Absolutely love drinking coffee while reading feeds in the morning.
- A good puppy who has picked up on all of our hard work training.
- A compliment from a professor about a research paper.
- Happy Hour tonight with friends.
- Progress on a school project.
Feeling of content
Today different parts of the country are experiencing snow storms. And my town is no exception. It’s beautiful, shimmery, fluffy snow. It’s nice to look at from the window, but a bit dangerous on the roads. The positive here: beautiful scenery.
Other good notes of today:
- Drinking coffee, listening to the radio, reading feeds and looking for jobs.
- Accomplishing a huge list of things yesterday. Completed my homework for the week and contacted all that needed to be contacted.
- Starting my party planning for May! Graduation here I come!
- Surprise kisses and hugs from Hubby this morning.
- Seeing that the Puppy is starting to understand commands and listen.
- A complete grocery list with meals planned for the week. Sloppy joes and tots for dinner.
- Finding a job posting that I qualify for and am excited about. *Fingers crossed.
- News that a friend’s family member is pregnant who has been trying for three years.
- Lost is on tonight!
What are your good thoughts for this Tuesday?
A happy puppy is a happy house
Since I took the puppy to the dog park in the afternoon yesterday instead of the morning, she’s been a bit tired out. This makes for a good puppy that listens. Yay for dog parks!
Other good things today:
- Coffee first-thing in the morning
- A happy hubby who loves his job
- Good news from the realtor about our new home!
- Herb and cheese burgers for dinner made by Hubby – plus tots!
- 30 degree weather
- Feeling like the transition from our move and adopting the puppy is past us. Really hate transitions.
- It’s Friday!
Long overdue
Sorry for not posting for a long time. Lots of things have happened including a move to a new state, and adopting a puppy. So here’s a long-overdue post on the good things that have happened in my life.
- Adopting a puppy that loves to snuggle
- Bonding with the puppy so that she trusts you
- Accomplishing puppy training
- Peaceful walks in the dog park. The dog park is in the middle of the country, on a hill and has beautiful views of country landscape. So damn peaceful!
- Watching dogs play and seeing how simply happy they can be.
- Finishing a one-week grad class where I was the only grad student.
- Re-energizing my passion in photography.
- Starting the home search, and finding our dream home.
- Being closer to family.
- Meeting new people.
- Mid-day naps (with a snuggly puppy).
- Learning to love winter, after living in the Midwest for 15 yrs.
- Learning how to be a good housewife while I look for a job. I actually enjoy making Hubby’s lunch and coffee. Who knew?
- Networking and getting back into the industry.
- Reading novels.
- Realizing how much I miss writing and refocusing on writing every day.
- Not living near O’Hare and a train station but rather across from a corn field.
- Daily walks
- Seeing a coyote on my walk.
I’ve experienced some great things in the last few months that make me appreciate life. What about you?
